Turning a Profit
Are the stock markets just a big casino, in which you need a lot of luck to win?, or can you apply successful strategies to make profits? These are just two questions which will be answered in this activity.
It will be in your hands if you succeed in the stock markets. You will have to invest in four completely different companies. Making the right investment decision and maybe having a bit of luck on your side will make you succeed. If you do not succeed you will lose your entire investment.
Playing this game, you will understand the main concept in financial markets, the concept that the only thing you are getting paid for is taking risks. However, applying the right strategies you can maximize the relationship between risk and returns and are able to make a fair profit no matter if there is a boom or a big crisis. On the other hand, if you love a little risk and luck is on your side, you can succeed as well.
By the end of the game, you see that as a private investor it is it possible to successfully invest in the stock market without taking immense risks.
In the Turning a Profit challenge, you will be able to invest in 4 different companies which will make a profit under certain conditions. You are also given some background information on how these companies performed in the past and what they are producing to help you in the decision making process. Study everything wisely, make a smart investment and take a look at the different outcomes (profits and losses) as the game unfolds over three periods. If you are not happy with the results, don’t worry, try again, make a different investment and see what happens.
